You should be driving traffic to your email list because if god forbid Facebook goes down you still have a list of people who are interested from buying from you. Choosing a platform is not something to jump into blindly, do your homework, take note of what others use and find a system that meets your requirements (and budget).
It is up to you how often you want to send an email: monthly, weekly, follow up emails, re-emailing, campaigns, nurture sequence etc. You need to do what you are comfortable with and what you have time to monitor – if you do not monitor the reviews you are wasting your time. These reviews can even be set up to let you know who has clicked on what, so, if you can see a person clicked on the payment link but they did not follow through then they are a hot lead, this needs to be followed up with a re-targeting mail. It is also really important to take note of who regularly opens your emails and who never opens your mail.
Some of the platforms charge a monthly fee based on the number of subscribers so it would be wasting money-sending mails to someone who never opens any of your mails, rather get rid of the dead weight. By removing the dead weight your open rate is going to start to look better and your emails will have a less spammy rating.
Some of these platforms even have CRM capabilities
For example, the client wants you to call them back in 3 months, you can actually set it up to send you a reminder to contact that client on a specific date and you can put your notes in there so you will get a mail with all the info you need. This can be an incredibly important feature for tracking leads and those interested in booking or buying from you.
