Sales are essential for any business to survive and grow. However, many people associate sales with sleazy tactics, pushy behaviour, and aggressive approaches that make potential customers uncomfortable. This perception often leads to a negative reputation for salespeople, making it challenging to build trust with prospects and close deals.
Fortunately, it’s possible to make sales without being sleazy. In fact, adopting ethical sales techniques can help you build a stronger relationship with your customers, increase their loyalty to your brand, and boost your revenue in the long run.
In this blog post, we’ll discuss some practical tips for making sales without sounding too pushy, so you can approach sales with confidence and integrity.
First we will go by the fundamentals of success and the process to approach any aspect of your business
Fail to plan is a plan to fail:
Planning is crucial for everything. By taking the time to plan and prepare, you’ll be able to work more efficiently and effectively, and increase your chances of success.
Without a solid plan, it’s difficult to achieve the results you desire. This is especially true in sales, where the competition is fierce and the stakes are high
SET SMART Goals
By using the SMART framework, you can create goals that are challenging yet attainable, and have a clear plan of action for achieving them. This can help you stay motivated and on track, even when the going gets tough.

This morning I went for my second run of 3 km since I got an injury (it was more like a
waddle). You see, 2 months ago my ego lead me to do a strength class at the gym which
threw out my back and has resulted in not only pain and discomfort, but left me with a
waddle and the inability to any fitness. I’ve also spent lots of time and money at chiros and
physios (who I love and appreciate)
My physio gave me some ‘silly’ little exercises to improve strength and mobility and in the
last session he monitored my ‘waddle’. This is when he suggested I run.
I was like WTF, I’m waddling as I walk.
His expert eye noticed that my new waddle 2 months in was bad patterning. It was my body
trying to still protect itself. So, he suggested I run to encourage better movement. Nothing
major. Just a little jog. And Guess what? Although it feels weird (I can actually feel the left
side trying to catch up) I am not sore and I fell that the strength and movement is
Improving.
He knew better.
Now if I had only done the run without all the other physio he has been given me, it
wouldn’t have been so successful and potentially could have made me worse. I had to listen
and follow his instructions as per his expert opinion (no matter how ‘wrong’ or ‘pointless’ it
felt at times.
It makes me think back to when I was training with a state triathlon group one day. I can’t
remember the numbers, but for example they said to run laps at a pace 5min/km even
though they knew my rate was say 7 min a km.
And guess what?
I thought WTF. They don’t know me. And I ran in the middle at 6 min/km.
Well, 3 laps in I was throwing up on the side and cramping in stitches, whilst the rest of the
the team completed their laps without objection.
We need to stop thinking we know everything and be open to trying things in a new way.
Especially if it’s from those who have been there and done that.
Therefore, I invest in coaching for myself and spend time with accomplished business
owners learning everything I can. So I can be a better business owner, coach and mentor.
Your method may have worked previously, but if it doesn’t now you need to change. Being
stubborn and stuck in your ways will only inhibit learning and growth. Stubbornness is only a
fear of change. Having courage to trust someone else and try new things that are
challenging will inevitably raise your vibration and show the universe your commitment.
(Be sure to check my Facebook page regularly for posts which delve into this further along
other business strategies)
Here are my key takeaways from the conference conducted by a coaching program I am part of.
1) At the conference I was surrounded by millionaire business owners which at time
made my experience imposter syndrome. I had to catch myself and remember to
focus on the impact I make. You see, we need to move from ego centric to heart
centric. We need to listen to the wisdom of our soul instead of the voices in your
Head.
The voices in your head are trying to ‘protect’ you by filling your thoughts with glimpses of
previous failures, beliefs, worries and fears. Joy and laughter are always available for you to
choose. We are not our thoughts.
We are not our thoughts.
Laughter is the best way out of your head.
Laughter, love and vulnerability can help break stress patterns.
Laughter is an orgasm of the mind which helps release happy hormones and endorphins and
improve your mood.
Because of the creativity and curiosity, prioritising play, exercise, hobbies etc into your day
will ensure you balance your vibration.
This raises your frequency or vibration, and you start to attract like-minded universal
Experiences.
When I first started triathlons, I hated running up hills. I could barely run a flat never mind
hills, and hill repeats where a tread. Until my coach suggested changing my thoughts and
assumptions towards it. He said, “Chantal I know you can, just as I can’ as I ran up the hill.
He also suggested visualizing the floor moving forward. It made me feel as light as a feather and the entire hill running was a pleasurable experience. Guess what? I still love running hills and use
that technique.
So when we catch our thoughts trying to protect us, thank them, dig deep down to find out
where they coming from, (and again, the courage to do that alone will create an energy
shift) then reframe them.
We are constantly gathering proof that we are right rather than being wrong. So if we know
this, when a negative thought appears, recognize that and choose to gather information to
prove the opposite.
So what do you want to believe? Focus on creating that.
So I wanted to create a recipe. Ingredients that just worked. Based on my learnings, I
personally decided that adding this to my routine would help my soul satisfying success
(because habits and routines make life easier for us) :
30 min daily exercise (a mix of high and low impact and intensity)
10 min reading / podcasts
10 min mindfulness / breathwork
10 min journaling, future pacing the day (example 21 learnings from my failures)
10min nutrition
10min of gratitude, reflect and next day planning
10 leads a day
“If you stand still, you actually going backwards in business”
It is with balance and in the quiet that clarity of vision, purpose and goals will come to light.
Know your focus each day.
2) Egocentric vs heart centric:
Maurice Goldberg Unconscious self sabotage theory was eye opening.
Ask questions like,
What is the purpose of life?
Why do you do what you do?
It’s not to make money. It’s to make a difference.
What is your gift and contribution to the world?
What do you love about your business and what is does for others?
What impact do you make by doing what you do?
Understand the above and you will start to experience miracles.
Making a decision to change to flick the universal light switch so that life meets you.
Stop creating friction in your flow.
Fulfil your life’s purpose and unstoppable transformations and unexpected miracles will
flow.
