How to speak to facebook and protect your account in 2023

How to speak to facebook and protect your account in 2023

My business was started as a Facebook strategist. It was because I used Facebook, without paying for ads, and grew a 6 figure business. So many other business owners wanted to know how.

For me, the biggest thing was having an end-to-end strategy which took people from your social media content plan, strategically through to a lead or sale.

And, one of my fundamentals then and still now, was to get people off social media as quickly as possible. That is, onto an email list.

Then covid hit, and so many more people were faced with having to get online. When they haphazardly did that, and had any problems on facebook, they would call me because I was the facebook ‘guru’.

The sad part of this is that I wasn’t Facebook. I could never guarantee a could recover accounts (its 50/50 success at the moment), and the biggest problem was that the reason they lost their profiles or had problems, was what I’m sharing with you today (and I’ll share Facebooks new solution, whether you like it or not)

That is when I decided that rebranding to online business marketing would better represent the end-to-end strategies I had always taught, and would stop people calling me to help recover their lost accounts (although this happened twice this week still) What I really wanted to do was work with business owners to get this right from the beginning.

Skills, Strategies and Systems Make Ad free Online Sales

12 Ways to protect your Facebook account in 2023:

  1. Change your passwords on every account you have (recommended 15)
  2. Make sure they are different on everything
  3. Set up two-factor authentication on every account you have (including phone verification codes and an authenticator app)
  4. Check who is admin on your account regularly. Add a trusted friend or family member as a full admin on any business page, Facebook group and ad account you have so that they can help you recover them.
  5. Turn ON your email notifications so that you also get notified there if any changes happen to your account. Keep an eye out for spam emails NOT from facebook. Check their email and don’t click links
  6. If you own a Facebook group, turn OFF the setting that automatically stops new Facebook profiles from requesting to join. So if you lose an account, start a new one, you can join with your new account
  7. Even though against Facebook standards, you may wish to create a backup account right now, and make that backup profile a full admin on your business pages and groups too, so that if you lose access to one profile, the other one can re-add you and attempt to kick out other accounts.
  8. Every quarter, download all your content (on both your personal and page).
  9. Knowledge. Use your platforms according to their standards (understand what spamming is or against Facebook standards)
  10. Check regularly who is logging into your accounts in settings.
  11. Set up business manager account correctly and add your page as an asset guide here
  12. Join meta verified. I suppose it’s up to you if you want to pay that $20 per month. You can turn it on and off. More details here
